What is Invisalign?
How Does Invisalign Work?
Specialized computer software is used to design a plan for moving your teeth into the best possible alignment. For each stage, the Invisalign company will manufacture two plastic “trays” or “aligners,” one to fit over your top teeth and one for the bottom. You will wear this first set of trays for two weeks, for a minimum of 20 hours per day. This cycle lasts until your teeth are correctly aligned.
Two features have been added to make Invisalign a more appropriate orthodontic treatment method for teenagers. Eruption tabs hold the proper amount of space for molars that have not fully grown. Invisalign for teens also comes with “compliance indicators” built into the aligner material to ensure the trays are being worn as they should.
Why Invisalign?
As an adult, you may be looking to improve your smile for business or social reasons. Or maybe you are a teen or the parent of a teen looking for an effective yet visually pleasing alternative to braces for improving your smile.
The Invisalign aligner trays are not only smooth and comfortable to wear, but they’re also removable, so you can continue doing all the things you usually would.
Can Teens Have Invisalign?
How Much Does Invisalign Treatment Cost?
The cost of Invisalign treatment is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Many dental insurance plans cover Invisalign just as they would other orthodontic treatments.
Invisalign’s cost varies based on the patient’s specific needs, and your insurance carrier can help you determine the exact coverage for your treatment. If your insurance does not cover all of your treatment costs or if the price is a concern for you, our office offers flexible, interest-free financing and options with no down payment.
How Do I Care for Invisalign At Home?
It is essential to remove your aligners when drinking or eating, but you must also maintain good oral hygiene on your teeth and aligners. Besides water, many foods and drinks can stain or discolor your aligners.
Failing to clean your aligners afterward correctly can result in discoloration and a buildup of bacteria. Clean your aligners with a soft toothbrush and water, not toothpaste, denture cleaners, or mouthwash, because it will make your trays cloudy, dull, and even damage them.
